A closer look at your Turkey e-visa
before you travel

This is what the document looks like. Knowing its fields tells you what to check the moment yours arrives.

An approved e-visa is an electronic document sent to you by email. It carries the Republic of Türkiye header, the electronic-visa title in Turkish and English, and a barcode that identifies the document.

The left column repeats the details exactly as they were entered: reference number, given name and surname, place and date of birth, nationality, and the number of the travel document the application was made against. Check each one against your passport before you travel.

The right column carries the terms of the visa itself: the number of entries it permits, the dates it is valid from and until, and the duration of stay it allows. The validity window and the length of stay are two different things. The window is when you may enter. The duration is how long you may remain.

An e-visa cannot be amended. If the name or passport number on it does not match your passport exactly, you need a new application, so check both before you pay.

Below the details is a Please read carefully panel setting out the conditions you are confirming: that you hold a supporting visa or residence permit where one is required, that your passport stays valid beyond your visit, and that you are travelling for tourism or business.

Every traveller, children included, needs their own e-visa. Keep a copy on your phone and a printed one in your hand luggage. The border officer may also ask for a return ticket, a hotel booking and proof of funds.
